Search Questions

Q: What is Search by Phone Number?
A: With Search by Phone Number, you can get street address information, a map and/or driving directions to a business with just their telephone number. When typing in the phone number, you don't have to use parentheses or dashes.
Q: What does "Default Location" mean?
A: When you check the Save as Default Location box, YELLOWPAGES.COM saves that location (city and state or ZIP code) as the point from which your future searches will automatically originate. You can change your default location anytime on MY YELLOWPAGES.COM or by simply entering a new location when you search.
Q: I'm not sure which state I want to search in. Can I search across the United States?
A: To perform a nationwide search, enter a name or category or keyword in the Find field and leave the Location field blank. Click "Find." The next window will ask you to specify a location for your search. Click on "Search nationwide."
Q: Can I search for listings in foreign countries?
A: YELLOWPAGES.COM directories only cover the United States, but the International Directories link to Yellow and White Pages listings in other countries.
Q: How can I narrow down my search results?
A: There are several ways you can refine your search results. You can choose the standard search or resort them by distance (in miles or by ZIP code) or alphabetically. YELLOWPAGES.COM offers you a number of ways to refine your results. Find out more in the Search Results Help page.
Q: Can I perform a search from my cell phone or other mobile device?
A: Yes! There are four different ways for you to search with your cell phone or mobile device. Find out more about them in the Mobile Help page.
Q: What are Popular Businesses?
A: Popular Businesses are ranked based on YELLOWPAGES.COM user clicks to the businesses, user reviews, and advertiser value. The Popular Businesses list displays those businesses that are the highest ranked and changes with continued user activity on the site.

Q: How does the free "Call" feature work?
A: Now you can call a business directly from that business's listing. Just click on "Call" next to the telephone number. A new window appears.
  1. Enter your telephone number.
  2. Select a time to call, either Now or in a few minutes. If you have a dial-up Internet connection, you may want to delay the call for a few minutes, so that you have time to get offline.
  3. Click the Call Now button.
  4. Your phone will ring. A recorded message will instruct you to hold while the call is being placed.
  5. The merchant answers their phone, and you're connected!
  6. This service is free for local and long distance landline calls. Cell phone users incur normal airtime charges.
Q: What's the difference between a Featured Business and a Listing?
A: YELLOWPAGES.COM offers enhanced listings products to advertisers that may include graphics, links and other functionalities. When you perform a search, these enhanced listings, or Featured Businesses, appear at the top of the results page. Regular text listings are listed below, in alphabetical order. All YELLOWPAGES.COM listings include contact information and, when the business can be mapped, links to a map and driving directions. Get more information about advertising in YELLOWPAGES.COM.
Q: What happens when I click on "Yellow Pages Ad"?
A: You will see the ad that that business now displays in the print Yellow Pages. YELLOWPAGES.COM advertisers can include a link to a version of their print Yellow Pages ad in their YELLOWPAGES.COM listing. To print the ad, click the Print button once the ad is displayed.

Q: Do I need a street address to get a map?
A: You don't need a street address to generate a map. To map a general location, enter the city and state, or a landmark (like "Empire State Building"), school, airport or ZIP code. For more information, visit the Maps & Driving Directions Help.
Q: Can I get driving directions for my return trip?
A: Click the Reverse Directions link in your driving directions results. A new page will load, displaying your return route as well as a map. For more information, visit the Maps & Driving Directions Help.

Send to Mobile Questions

Q: What is SMS or Text Messaging?
A: SMS stands for "Short Message Service," but most cell phone users simply know it as text messaging. Current mobile phones have this function, where you can send text messages to your friends by placing their phone number on the "TO" field.
Q: What is Send to Mobile?
A: This is a function that appears on YELLOWPAGES.COM where you can send either a business listing address with phone number or driving directions to your mobile phone. The system sends the information as a text message.
Q: Can I send a business listing or driving directions to my friend?
A: Yes. Simply enter their wireless phone number in the form.
Q: Will I be charged for using Send to Mobile?
A: YELLOWPAGES.COM does not add any additional charges for this service, but standard text messaging charges from your carrier will apply.

Q: What if I forget my user name and/or password?

Q: What happens if my e-mail address has changed or is no longer valid?
A: If your e-mail address is no longer valid, please register again.
Q: If I use a different e-mail address, will I have to create a new user name as well? Will my preferences be saved?
A: You can change your MY YELLOWPAGES.COM e-mail address in the Profile and Preferences page. You do not have to create a new user name, and all of your preferences will remain intact.

Q: Where can I find information about ordering print Yellow Pages?
A: AT&T customers can order print Yellow Pages by calling the customer service number for their region.
Q: How do I change or remove my White Pages listing?
A: White Pages listings are provided by WhitePages.com and are generated from publicly available local telephone records. For security reasons, WhitePages.com cannot change published listings. To update a residential White Pages listing, contact your local phone company to make the change. The corrected WhitePages.com listing will appear at the next site update, which happens quarterly.

If you have already indicated to your phone service provider that you have an unlisted or non-published number and find that you are listed on WhitePages.com, or if you wish to have your listing completely removed from the site, fill out their Online Removal Form. Q: Who can write a review on YELLOWPAGES.COM?
A: Any registered user of YELLOWPAGES.COM can write a review of a listed business or service. If you're not already registered, it takes less than a minute to register.
Q: How do I write a review?
A: Sign in to MY YELLOWPAGES.COM. If you're not already registered, it takes less than a minute to register.

When you're using YELLOWPAGES.COM, you'll see "User Reviews" and a number of stars next to most listings. Click on "Rate It" to review the business or service.

Select the star rating that corresponds to your experience with the business or service you're reviewing.

  • 5 stars = Exceptional
  • 4 stars = very Good
  • 3 stars = Good
  • 2 stars = Fair
  • 1 star = I would not recommend

Then type in the title of your review. Write your review in the box provided and click Next.

Q: How soon will my review be posted on the site?
A: User reviews are posted to the site in near real time, and the summary rating information on the results page is updated at the same time.
Q: Can I write about a business that I haven't used?
A: Your reviews must express your personal experience with the business or service you are writing about.
Q: I reviewed a business on YELLOWPAGES.COM, but I changed my mind. Can I change my review?
A: In the future, you may be able to manage and make changes to your reviews in your My YELLOWPAGES.COM pages. If you submitted a review in error, you can request a correction by sending an e-mail message to ratingsandreviews@yellowpages.com.
Q: Can I review a business or service more than once?
A: You can submit only one review per listing.
Q: Is there a length limit for the reviews?
A: Reviews should be at least five and no more than 600 words.
Q: Is there an age limit on this site?
A: You must be at least 13 years old to submit reviews. The age limit is consistent with the YELLOWPAGES.COM Privacy Policy.
Q: Can I include my e-mail address or Web site?
A: For users' security and to ensure that reviews focus on the products and services being written about, e-mail addresses are not permitted. HTML or any other code is also not permitted.
Q: What guidelines should I follow when writing reviews?
A: When you're writing a review, make sure it complies with the YELLOWPAGES.COM Reviews Guidelines. These were designed to make sure that reviews are honest, constructive, useful and not offensive to any members of the YELLOWPAGES.COM community.
Q: Does YELLOWPAGES.COM read every review before it is posted?
A: YELLOWPAGES.COM does not read every review before it is posted. However, we regularly monitor reviews for human error or content that does not comply with our Reviews Guidelines.
Q: What can I do if I see a review that is offensive or somehow does not conform to the Reviews Guidelines?

Q: Do all reviews come from YELLOWPAGES.COM users?
YELLOWPAGES.COM also publishes reviews written by registered users of other reviews sites, such as Judy's Book. If a review published on YELLOWPAGES.COM comes from another site, we will attribute the review to that provider.
Q: What information about me will you publish on the Web site with my review?
A: When you register as a member of YELLOWPAGES.COM, you give your e-mail address, a user name, password, and your ZIP code. Only your user name will be published on the site. None of your identifying information will be made public, shared with other companies, or with any entity outside of YELLOWPAGES.COM.
